one moment – preparing for a family photograph

Veritas Vineyard and Winery was the site of our most recent wedding with Lauren and Zach.  As I browsed through the images, I came across this photograph of Lauren helping this gentleman prepare for a photograph with  the two of them.  His expression drew me in and then I noticed his fingers barely coming out of his sleeves, a small, but important, detail.  I always have an emotional reaction that draws a smile when I  photograph kids at weddings as I always enjoy their presence and their innate ability to add so much to a collection of images by simply being themselves.

As a part of our “One Moment” blog posts, we are starting to add comments from the bride and/or groom as a part of the story.   Artistically, I like to show an approach and how I see the wedding, what I personally find meaningful as an artist and how that relates to my approach as a photographer.  However, it adds so much to our readers by giving your a perspective from the bride and groom and we are now receiving emails from our clients describing their personal feelings towards the image, how it made them feel when they saw it for the first time, or the story behind the photograph.  Lauren’s response from her Veritas wedding is below:

“Timothy is four and a half.  He’s the kindest, most gentle little boy you will ever meet.  As you can see in his face, he is full of pure joy.  He’s also full boy.  Before this picture was taken his shirt tail was completely out and I am fairly sure he was playing in the grass.  Nothing phases him.  He clearly doesn’t even mind when you fix his clothes.  He patiently stands there.  At the reception he told both Zach and me “this is the most beautiful wedding” and while I was dancing with him, he told me, “you are so beautiful.”  No 4 year old could make that up on his own.  He is a gift from God to put a smile on all of our faces.  You couldn’t have picked a better photograph.”
