We frequently travel to document weddings and have had the opportunity to document weddings out of the country and throughout the eastern half of the United States. Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, it is not every day that I get a request to document a wedding in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan – much less a January wedding in the historic suburb of Detroit. Traveling and awaking to a cold never experienced before, it was going to teach us something about this part of the north at a time of year that requires nothing less than the proper attire. Being a Virginia native, and someone who typically does the opposite of traveling north during the winter months, minus one on the thermometer was new for me. Fortunately for us, it “warmed up” to the twenties for the wedding day. For those of you that have never been to the Grosse Pointe municipalities, it is a must. From taking the time to speak with the local residents, I quickly leaned that summers in this area are as splendid as one could expect. The winters can be brutal, but with snow, a frozen lake, a dock, and a distant view of Canada in the background, this image showcased Alex and Tom in an environment that one would expect in Grosse Pointe Farms in January. We hope you enjoy.
