Chloe and Adam’s wedding at King Family Vineyards was a party from the moment they arrived. Chloe and Adam were so king to us from the beginning and we were excited to be a part of the day. My brother, John Garland, was the DJ for the evening. He taught Adam, the groom, in high school and his grandparents lived in our neighborhood when we grew up. She was a 2nd year UVA student, and I grew up in Charlottesville and was working on my associate’s degree from PVCC. A few months after meeting we began dating, and the rest is history. She graduated from UVA with her bachelors degree in Spanish and also Foreign Affairs in 2018, and from Georgetown in 2021 with a masters in European politics. I finished my associates and got my paramedic license in 2017 and immediately went to work in Northern Virginia as a firefighter-paramedic. She now works as a transatlantic manager for the Bertlesmann Foundation in DC (a think tank that deals with transatlantic policy), and I work as a firefighter-paramedic for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. In the summer of 2021, I proposed to her behind the backdrop of a beautiful sunset on the Maryland Eastern Shore. While the sunset was beautiful, we were interrupted by a family that wanted to have a party on the beach, and after dinner we both got food poisoning. Love is blind right? We now live in Arlington with our dog, Ferdinand.”
