One moment – at The Homestead

Hot Springs, Virginia is one of my favorite places to document a wedding.  The Homestead resort and it’s rustic charm, stunning views, and premier service offer us magical evenings and wonderful experiences.  Personally, we have spent

One moment – at Veritas

Devan and Ron picked a wonderful afternoon at Veritas for their wedding in May. This image works for me because of Devan’s glance and smile toward Ron during a reading. The layers of this image make the moment a perfect choice for our image of the week. I love the scene framed by the reader, the minister’s attentive look, and the bridesmaids in the background.

One moment – a reflection

The Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia represents classic elegance as well as any venue.  It is known for wonderful meals (I have had my fair share) and outstanding service.  It’s not surprising that Ileana and Brooks chose the Clifton for their nuptials.  The image I have chosen was taken

One moment – Meg and Bryan

A silhouette can be an interesting addition to a photo session. In this case, I decided to post an image from Meg and Bryan’s engagement session this past weekend. I love the moment, the color, and the moon in the background.

One moment – Kinsley and Caryn

Moments just happen and sometimes even a simple gesture at a family gathering can lead to a wonderful photograph. The younger of the two sisters, Kinsley, doesn’t know what to think when her nephew, Andrew, comes into the room wearing a “Lucha Libre” professional wrestling mask.  Kinsley’s older sister, Caryn, recognized her lack of security with the situation and proceeded to provide her own style of “big sister” comforting.

One moment – Sara and her father

The image above is from Sara and Jack’s wedding this past weekend in Richmond, Virginia. This particular photograph is a result of simply being in the right place at the right time. I am thrilled with the wonderful side lighting coming from the cracked door of the church, moments before Sara and her father entered the sanctuary.

One moment – Oliver’s baptism

This week’s image is from Oliver’s baptism at The First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. Oliver is not sure what to think about the water that is being placed on his head. After a quick moment of not understanding the situation, Oliver was back to normal, watching the crowd, and enjoying being the center of attention.

One moment – courtesy of the Bresslers

A photograph has two equally important steps, taking the photograph and printing the photograph. The great Ansel Adams states, “The negative is comparable to the composer’s score and the print to its performance.”

our new blog

Along with our new website, we have reconstructed the blog.  Our new format will show one image and a brief description of
our thoughts, technical data, or anything we might choose to mention.  Each post will allow me to choose one….and only one….image from each event we document.

Our first image will contain none other than my best canine friend…..our dog, Hampton.  This was taken during the last snowfall of the winter and I love the little blotch of snow on his nose as he runs up the porch steps.  Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are wonderful dogs that rarely bark and are very loyal and affectionate.  I highly recommend them to anyone that is thinking of a puppy.
